BeauTy.MyThs.BusTed.-ParT.2.

A little while ago I started the first part of a series that busts beauty myths and secrets, this is my second installation of the series.......
To check out Part one of this series Click Here
Myth #21: If you have sensitive skin, you must have been born with it - FALSE! Sensitivity in the skin can can happen at any time. Sensitivity can happen later in life for many reasons such as hormonal changes, allergies, use of a new product, medication or seasonal reactions

Myth #22: It's never too early to start using anti ageing treatments - FALSE! While using a product to prevent aging is okay, before the signs of aging, using a product to get rid of ageing is probably not the best idea. Instead use a daily SPF with broad spectrum protection and a moisturizer that has antioxidants.

Myth #23: Makeup with anti ageing benefits is just a gimmick- FALSE! The products out on the market nowadays contain ingredients that protect, nourish and repair the skin, such as vitamins, antioxidants and SPF.

Myth #24: It's bad to wash your hair after dying it - TRUE! When you colour your hair, it takes time to penetrate and attach itself to the hair, meaning that if you shampoo too early, you'll mess up the process and end up losing some colour. Try washing your hair 2 days after dying your hair. And always use products appropriate for colour treated hair, as this will prevent fading.

Myth #24: Shimmery products can make you look older - TRUE! Shimmery or frosty products can tend to accentuate wrinkles and sit in the folds. Try using products with a subtle sheen in a blush or eyeshadow, this will give the skin a nice healthy glow.

Myth #25: Toothpaste will get rid of pimples - FALSE! While toothpaste does dry the pimple, it can dry so much to cause a scar. Active ingredients in toothpaste are usually fluoride and mint, which can seriously irritate the skin. Instead opt for a product that contains salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide for the stubborn pimples.

Myth #26: Brushing your hair when it's wet is bad - FALSE! It all depends how you do it. While in the shower is best. Do it when you have conditioner already on the hair. Using a paddle brush or wide toothed comb is best. Comb the hair in small sections, working from the ends up. And remember hair that is wet, is very fragile and can break.

Myth #27: Washing your hair every day is bad for it - TRUE! This is true for everyone, especially for chemically processed hair. By washing too much you can dry out the hair, as the hair needs the natural oils from the scalp to stay moisturized. Try using a dry shampoo on days that you don't wash, to freshen up. Or try a leave in conditioner for a curly or wavy hair.

Myth #28: Your eyelashes can fall out if you don't remove your mascara - TRUE! Built up mascara can block and clog the eyelash follicles, which can then lead to breakage.

Myth #29: The best place to try foundation is your inner wrist - FALSE! As this can seem like a simple solution, it in fact is the lightest skin on your body. Any foundation should be tested on your jaw line.

Myth #30: The more expensive the product- the better it is - TRUE! and FALSE! Good quality ingredients can come at a price, but saying that does not mean that dishing out more money can deliver better results. Do your research about what you're being sold and ask for samples. Get a cosmetics ingredients book/dictionary. Also you know what works on your skin and what doesn't. Remember every company has great marketing teams to back them up, so be savvy and research! And everyone expects and wants different results, yours may not be the same as the next.
