Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ..My thoughts: First, this one smells divine; like desert rose. It is truly a 'cult' follower product. We often sell out of this one in my store. Sure it comes with a price tag. But it is almost justified by the quality. It is a little heavier on the texture side. My friend uses this religiously and he finds that it really helps with fine lines/wrinkles, especially for him, the nasolabial fold.


I can never find a serum that fits my oily/acne prone skin without making me breakout. I really like all of these serums for different reasons. If you are looking to smooth out, perfect, hydrate or just get healthy skin - you should definitely try one of these serums. Adding one of these to your skin care regime will help your other skin care work better. And for those of you who do not know where to put it in your skin care regime - use it just before your face cream.

ExTinGuisH.The.FirE......AfTer.SuN.CaRe.FoR.Sun.BurnS.

You apply sunscreen every time, every two hours, you swear you do. Okay, well maybe that one time you forgot.  And that one time you got a burn. And boy did it burn. But  can sun damage be reversed? Is there something to stop the pain and burning?

Applying sunscreen is important at any age and for any skin tone, don't think that if you are dark that you won't get any sun damage. Of course the lighter your complexion, the more you need to protect it. 

After every exposure to the sun, you should apply an after sun product, even if your skin is burnt or not because you need to replenish the skins moisture and calm any sensitivity. 

It is just as important to apply after sun care as it is to apply sunscreen. Think of pasta. It keeps cooking even away from the heat until you put cold water over it. Same thing with the skin. It keeps burning until you use an after sun care to "extinguish the fire".

Unfortunately no matter how quickly after sun exposure, you apply after sun care, you cannot undo damaged caused by UV rays. The UV rays have already penetrated the skin and have caused DNA damage that is not repairable. 

So what should you do after a sunburn? Well make sure to drink lots of water during sun exposure and afterwards to keep from getting dehydrated. You can take a cool to luke warm shower afterwards. Pat dry and do not rub area. Using a thermal spray water like Avene's thermal water is great to soothe and hydrate the area. Then you want to apply you after sun care product.

SUN BURN DON'TS

- Do not apply butter or olive oil on the burn as you may have heard. This does not relieve pain, yet it keeps the burning sensation trapped.

- Do not rub area, pat instead

- Do not expose area to sun/UV rays for a couple of days at least.

Probably someone who never used sunscreen or aftersun!

Quite a bit of the time I find my customers telling me that they are doing a regular skin care regime, yet they are not getting the results that they want to get. Something beneficial that I recommend for them to try is adding a facial mask as a great addition to their regular regime. One reason I love facial masks is because there is a facial mask for all skin types and for most concerns. The nice thing about this additional step is that you do not have to do it everyday. Used once to twice weekly, using a mask you can achieve pore tightening, brightening, exfoliating, hydrating, anti aging and purifying.  Face masks however are not a “one size fits all” product. The key is to know our skin type and buy according to it.


Normal skin 
If you are luck to have no breakouts, oiliness or dryness, you can try many different masks. You can try ones for radiance, deep cleansing, hydration or even try one for sensitive skin. 
Oily/combination skin
Usually this skin type responds well to clay masks or ones that detoxify. Clay is awesome to remove excess oil, deeply cleanse the pores and helping with black heads. They are great for detoxifying the skin yet not leaving them feel dry.

Dry skin
Someone with a dry skin will want the opposite from an oily skin. They want moisture and to feel comfortable. A moisture mask is like drink of fresh water for your skin. It will leave the skin feeling plump and rejuvenated. A tip for moisture masks is to make sure to rub them in after the 10 minutes or to tissue them off. NEVER wash off, if you do you wash off the moisture.

Dull Skin
An exfoliating or radiance mask will help boost the radiance and add a glow to the skin. Exfoliating masks will help to remove dead skin cells of the skin.

Mature skin
A mask for mature skin can offer anti aging benefits such as anti wrinkle and firming.
TRY: Clarins Extra-Firming face mask or Neostrata exfoliating firming mask


Whitening/Brightening 
Using a mask for whitening or brightening can help with skin lightening, scarring or age spots. Usually these masks use exfoliating ingredients.
TRY: Shiseido Intensive brightening mask.




TiP: Use an exfoliator or scrub before a mask to allow the mask to work on new skin instead of dead skin cells.
