QuEstiOn.oF.tHe.Day.aNd.My Brush Collection

I find it funny sometimes, well maybe not funny, but interesting when I find myself in front of a customer who asks me if it is REALLY necessary to use brushes to apply makeup.
Of course, there is no 'Right' way to put on makeup, but I think that brushes make ALL the difference in application.
Now of course this excludes those amazing artists who can apply beautiful makeup with just their fingers or a cotton swab. But, for myself I need brushes!
This post would not be complete if I did not have a picture of my brush collection.... well here is most of it.... I'm pretty sure I have more hiding somewhere.
It's a lot, but really it's not a lot to me, as an artist.
Looking at my brushes I thought to myself, first, I have a lot of the same brushes. And second, I tend to stick to the same few brands of brushes. I have brushes from Smashbox, Coverfx, Dior, Pur minerals, Bare Minerals, Quo and good old Dollar store brushes(mainly for special effects makeup). My favourite are the first three.
So, the purpose of this post really is to show you my brush collection and to ask you a few questions:
1. Do you use makeup brushes? or use your fingers/cotton swabs?
2. Which brand(s) of brush are your favourite?

Lime Grape: Green and Purple eyeshadow tutorial

R-r-r-rrrrreeeeplay..... Does this look familiar? Well if it does, it's because I posted this look at the end of february.. I received so many compliments on the look and I also saw one of my favourite Youtube Guru's (Petrilude) post a pic of himself with similar makeup not too long after my post and was inspired to do a video tutorial of the look. This has to be one of my favourite colour combinations by far. I personally think it looks great!
I used a combination of 'unnamed' eyeshadows, Dior and MAC shadows to create this look.
This look would be great for St. Patrick's Day because it has green in it but has a twist to it!

What do you think of this look?

A Sneak Peek at Dior 360 mascara

I may or may not be too late to talk about the launch of the new mascara by Dior, called 360. I just recently found out about it. And had to share some info about it!

You can buy it online at Sephora for $36USD.

This mascara promise volume, curl and length. With its revolving brush with a helicoid shape, it is suppose to reproduce the most advanced techniques of professional makeup artists. It's formula contains micro waxes which coat, lengthen and sculpt the lashes. It is not waterproof but is suppose to set for hours on end.

If you'd like to see how the brush spins and what someone thinks of it first hand, check out ScienceBeautiful.

I personally cannot waito try it out. However review I have read, have not been good. I think it maybe a spinoff of Lancome's Oscillation mascara.
Have you tried this mascara?! I'd love to know what you thought, if not, would you try it??

Dior Spring 2011 Nail Lacquers

Happy Hump day everyone! Hope your week is awesome so far. Today, I have a quick post to show you my nails for today. I alternated each nail with two colours, the Dior Spring colours, 707 and 108. I actually really like the brush for the nail polishes, they are so easy to use! I found the 707 went on awesome, only need two coats, however the pink 108, I had to use 4 coats!
Have you tried any polishes from Dior? What did you think?

ProduCt.ReViEw. -Dior Rouge Dior Voluptuous Care in 644 Rouge Blossom

Dior Rouge Dior Voluptuous Care in 644 Rouge Blossom

From Haute Couture to “Haute Couleur”
Rouge Dior is a wardrobe of 32 sublime shades directly inspired by the deep, luxurious colors of Dior Haute Couture gowns to reveal all the beauty of triumphant and radiant femininity! Instantly and day after day, this exceptional lipstick offers the lips the extreme splendor of full, smooth and perfectly defined youthfulness.
The secret? A new generation of plumping hyaluronic acid microspheres. Generously coated with pigments on the lip surface, they help boost the radiance and depth of color.

I love how pigmented the colour is, so you don't have to layer to achieve the full colours potential. I find the stay on this lipstick average, as it does not go away right away, nor does it stay for hours.

Unfortunately what gets me about Dior lipsticks, is always the smell and taste of them. The smell is not pleasant, and it reminds me of cheap lipstick. The taste as well is not pleasant. Another point, is the price, I find the lipsticks to be super expensive, but i uess, you buy the name too!
This lipstick is a really beautiful reddy pink colour with gold flecks. Perfecto wear everyday, or awesome paired with a nude or cat eye. As always the packaging is classic and very sleek, yet simple.

ProduCt.ReViEw. -Dior DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum

Dior DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum

"What it does:
The newest addition to the family of legendary Diorshow Mascaras, Diorshow Maximizer Lash Primer Serum instantly primes, plumps, and lengthens lashes with an ultra-light and quick-drying formula. The first "active serum" mascara primer also contains a unique cell-conditioning complex made up of hydrolyzed soy proteins that promote long-term lash growth, strength, and vitality.
What else you need to know:
"Diorshow Maximizer is this season's most innovative, must-have product. Apply as a primer serum base under mascara for intensely curled, thickened, and lengthened lashes and also on its own as a deep conditioner for lashes at night." -Sephora Pro Beauty Team Member, Nathalie Bechard
Research Results:
The Dior Innovation Center has tested Diorshow Maximizer for efficiency and found amazing results after only 8 weeks use: + 52% Volume, +38% Length, + 73% Curl
Studies also showed that lashes were more resilient, protected, and revitalized." Sephora

Water, paraffin, C18-36 acid triglyceride, carnauba wax, bis-diglyceryl polyacyladipate-2, palmitic acid, stearic acid, triethanolamine, beeswax, acacia Senegal gum, hydroxyethycellulose, phenoxyethanol, tocopheryl acetate, sodium hyaluronate, artemia extract, hydrolyzed soy protein, pentylene glycol, potassium sorbate, BHT

I really noticed a difference with this primer under my mascara as appose to without it.
I found my lashes were 'healthier' and stronger after using this for only a few times.
Contains alternia: an alga which helps to boosthe effects of other anti aging ingredients, it protects DNA from UV rays and free radicals.

Contains triethanolamine, which is considered a moderate hazard ingredient by the Cosmetics Database, which should cause concern. It can produce sense organ effects at very low doses when used around the eyes. Also there are some potentially harmful preservatives such as BHT and phenoxyethanol.

This has to be the only lash primer that I have ever liked. As an avid false lash user, it was hard to steer me away from my lashes, even justo try it. After I tried it, I didn'regret it. Don't get me wrong though, I will not be leaving my false lashes anytime soon! However I did find thathe this primer did an awesome job of making my lashes look like they were falsies! I would recommend this primer to anyone wanting a longer and fuller lashes.
